Student Summit

December 15, 2008

Last Friday, the class did the student summit with students from Oman. It was so cool. There accents where so cool and I just love to hear them talk. I was the first one to go and I was so nervous, but I wasn't even talking face to face with them. I was excited to hear all of what they learned in there project. Almost everyone had the same weakness, which was they did not have enough time. And it was true. You must try to balance your time and it gave me a reason to establish time management. I have to be able to manage my time between school and extra curricular activities. I must do what is important first and then do my other thing that I have on the side. I was happy that it was over but I wish that we could talk with other schools from different countries from all over the world like once a month. I would love to do that because it opens your eyes to new cultures and it strengths you as a person to venture out and see what else is out there. 

Video Done

So 2 weeks ago I finished my video and I was so happy. It was totally hard because I did not have enough time. My friend Olivia helped me tons. We had lots of fun. I never really understood what it took to sit and edit, but now I do. It takes hard work and dedication. I was so tired to seeing the same thing over and over again. I was a little upset because I had to wait on my outsourced video. There should be a deadline for the outsourced video. I posted my outsourced video and I didn't get mines for 2 and half weeks. I was mad because I couldn't finish my video without it. Then, I finished my video at home and it didn't save on my flash drive. I was so mad. I had to come to school the next day and start over again. It was rushed, but for the most part it was an okay video. I know that I could have done better if I had a little bit more time. Too, there was only one camera and can you imagine 6 people trying to use 1 camera. It was a nightmare. All in All, it was nice though and I really cannot wait until we did again just with more time.

Flat Classroom Project 3 (Shot list)

So I did my shot list and my summary of my video. I am sooooooooooo excited. I cannot wait. I am learning about other countries and just getting exposed to other cultures. I am having lots of fun. I had an audition on Friday, so I was unable to get get my outsourced video. But now I have decided for one. I cannot wait until Friday of this week so that I can tape. I am trying to see how I am going to tape the outsourced video. So for my shot list I was trying to think of other things that I could incorporate in my video. But I was thinking about the All-State commercial. An accident happens and then he is like in the corner of the screen talking and an accident is occurring. So I think that I am going to use that concept. I was at one time, trying to find my basic and central message. I think it is really find other ways to communicate besides telephone ad the email and myspace and facebook. I believe that I am ready to begin. Cannot wait to get started.

Flat classroom Project 1

So I did my Flat classroom project 1. It was different. I am trying to come up with a good concept. But I know my classmates will help me. I am excited about meeting people, however I don't have a person who looks at our wiki page. But that is ok We will get through it.

Work from Home

So today I was trying to do some work for my flat classroom project from home. I was doing pretty good until IL forgot my topic. But then it came back to me. I was surprised that I get totally different websites at home than I do at school. I like to websites I get at school. They give much more information. It is a lot easier to understand what is going on at school than it is at home. I will be able to finish everything tomorrow hopefull

Learning Process

I have heard Mrs. Becker say RSS feed a thousand times and so today at 8:50 am I found out what it meant. An RSS Feed means "Really Simple Syndication." It is so freaking cool. I never really wanted to ask because everyone else new so I didn't really want to ask. Anyway I can edit my Wikispaces. I am excited about that because I have been waiting to edit and I never could because I was not accepted as a member.

I never really realized how important copyrighting could be. It was interesting to see all the rules that you have to follow in order to get information off the Internet and cited it. I thought it was a very tedious project. But I learned a lot from it. I was really surprised that the government wrote a book on how copyrighting is illegal. I knew about it but I found out so much more information on it. Since I am music major I was looking at how people can copyright music. I found it funny how people try to use some of the most famous tracks and just put different words and they would get caught. But you can make something up and then try to make something similar to that track and make a totally different song. All and all I thought this project was very productive and I found tons of information that could help me not only in this class, but in my other academics classes as well.

Netiquette

Netiquette- Wilson and I are still working on the PowerPoint. Last class PowerPoint and safari kept quitting on me. I was getting a little frustrated because I could not do anything with my flat classroom project nor the wiki and ning. I found out that you should a restart your computer if things go wrong with it. I was a little confused because I was trying to find pictures to go with the caption and I found out all you have to do is go to google and just push image.

So today we had a little problem with the internet server. We could not get on the internet at all. So today was not really productive. I finished working on Flat Class room project #1. When I was doing my recording I was just so excited. I was just a little nervous because I am going to be meeting people from all over the world. I am nervous because I will be communicating with different cultures and ethnicities. So cool. I just cannot wait to get started.l

 

Wiki Spaces

Today is Oct. 8, 2008

I am so excited. We are about to start our wiki and then we will begin the ning. I am just happy to be in this class. I want to just start. I am trying to think of good ideas to do my presentations. I am also making sure that I can work on this project at home. I am just ready to meet everyone from the different countries. I want to get to know everyone's cultures and be able to understand a little bit more.

Activity 2

Sept. 12,2008

Today was really cool because I learned how to Make web tools. It took me a while because I had to do somethings on my own but it was okay. I learned how to create a personal web page and establish an RSS. I had help from my friends and just had a great time.

5. Have fun with learning about the computer

I believe that this is important because we need to find out what else the computer obtains besides bad things. They are great advantages in some ways so yea. It is kind of COOL!!!!!!

How to make the web page was most important to me because I am able to help others out who need it if they want a web page. It is really cool to know stuff that other people don't know. I think all this is just another way to broaden my horizons. 

My day in Telecommunications

Today is Sept. 8, 2008

So, at first I could not make a blog because I did not know if what was going on. The computer would not accept my password or my email address. And I have used them for so many other things. It was a really weird process. But my wonderful teacher helped me threw it. I guess it was a very tedious process. Today I was also able to make the corrections on some things I made mistakes on in the previous process.

1. Making a blog

2. Have the correct password

3. Have a good email address

4. Pick a less difficult computer

5. Check to see how the computer works and make sure you do things correctly

Before I got into this class I had no Idea how many sites were free and I had no Idea what a blog was. I think this is important because you get to communicate with people from all over. Its COOL and I know tons of kids who would kill for an opportunity like this.

 

 The most valuable thing that I have valued at this time is simply that I have learned so much in a short amount of time. The learning experience has been wonderful and I have love every minute of it.
